Billabong Creates the Perfect In-Store Customer Checkout Experience With Ingenico’s Secure Payment Devices

Action sports retailer modernizes its POS to create a richer experience for its tech savvy customers with the new iSC Touch 250 Series

Atlanta, GAMarch 6, 2013. Ingenico (Euronext: FR0000125346 – ING), leading worldwide provider of payment solutions today announced that action sports leader Billabong, a global multi-brand manufacturer and retailer, has successfully rolled out Ingenico’s new iSC Touch 250 Series Signature Capture point-of-sale (POS) devices in more than 100 stores throughout the United States. The POS upgrade was an integral part of the retailer’s strategic plan to modernize its legacy in-store payment acceptance system. Billabong’s goal was to enhance consumer engagement and convenience at checkout, by accommodating a growing demand from their savvy younger consumers to accept all forms of payment, including NFC-based mobile wallets, contactless, and smartcard EMV chip-based payments.

Known for its dedication to the action sports customer and its tech savvy business practices, Billabong selected Ingenico’s iSC Touch 250 Series Signature Capture device mostly due to its security, multi-media functionality, Telium architecture, and efficient performance. The new POS solution allows Billabong to leverage Ingenico’s innovative hardware with unique multi-media brand building capabilities along with loyalty and special promotion offerings at in-store checkout.

“We were in the market to replace an older problematic terminal with a more reliable, secure and robust model,” said Roger Moreno, Retail IT Manager at Billabong USA. “After evaluating options from the leading manufacturers, a decision was made to implement Ingenico’s iSC Touch 250 due to its proven performance and dependability. Since rolling out Ingenico’s iSC Touch 250 solution in late 2012, our PIN-pad terminal issues have dropped by 99%.”

Billabong teamed up with SalePoint, a leading integration service and high value POS solutions provider, to manage, integrate, and carry out the installation of the new iSC Touch 250 devices.

“We are excited to see Billabong successfully deploy the Ingenico signature POS devices into their stores. The rollout was a success and Billabong has already seen the value of their investment during their busy holiday season,” stated Paul Streicher, President and Managing Director of Retail for SalePoint. “The new ISC Touch 250 in conjunction with SalePoint POS software provides benefits such as scrolling receipt, integrated signature capture and full color video capability to promote their products and brands.”

With integrated multi-media-enabled Telium 2 architecture and a wealth of connectivity, Ingenico’s iSC Touch 250 is fully EMV and PCI PIN Transaction Security (PTS) V3 validated and supports the latest SRED security standards.

“To offer the best POS solutions to retailers, we have to understand their culture, customer base, and key initiatives driving their retail business. For Billabong, being able to differentiate their in-store experience from the moment a customer enters one of their stores to the point of checkout is critical,” said Scott Tubbs, Vice President of Sales Retail/Channel, Ingenico, North America. “The iSC Touch 250 terminal is a perfect fit for Billabong – secure, durable, powerful and versatile. It allows Billabong to drive branding programs for its multiple brands, highlight in-store specials with targeted ads, and securely accept all currently existing forms of payment.

In addition to successully rolling out the iSC Touch 250 devices in more than 100 multi-banner stores nationwide Billabong has plans to upgrade all of its stores in the U.S. by the end of Q1 2013.
